Rehabilitate From Social Media

In such a crucial phase of our lives where everyone is stuck at home and knowing no ways to spice it up we have developed a constant habit of being with SMARTPHONES, and this gets interesting with our new savior, the “SOCIAL MEDIA”.

Study shows an average individual in the year 2020-2021, has a screen time of approx. nine hours per day, which is shockingly terrifying and intellectually disturbing. Though a lot of youth are influencing people around their lives in different aspects such as fashion, food, fun, awareness etc. But studies have also shown that 19% of an average youngster’s depression is because of heavy use of social media.

As everyone is stuck to the small gadget and with minimal work, an ample trend is being set and frequent use of freedom of speech is being utilized by all the people around the world which is spreading both love and hatred. Another reason for this is that people easily tend to compare their lifestyle with others they have tried to make social media as the illusion of how one’s life should be

Due to such a situation plenty of other people have now started to find it boring, irrelevant and depressing too, but as SOCIAL MEDIA has become very addicting, people find it very difficult to depart from it.

Here, we are going to share some quick hacks and tricks to REHABILITATE you from your SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION.

  • USE DEVICE THAT IS MADE FOR THE PURPOSE:

We have developed a habit of using our smartphones for every tiny purpose intentionally or unintentionally.Like despite having a wrist watch we tend to unlock our phone to check what time it is.

Similarly, using a calculator on the phone makes us keep the calculation aside and we often end up finding ourselves scrolling Instagram. What other best explanation to this be, setting an alarm on your phone and ending up replying to people and being on social media for an hour or two as soon as you wake up even before you have brushed your teeth.

Hence use the device that’s whole and sole purpose is that function. Use a calculator instead for calculating, an alarm clock for setting your alarm etc.

  • NO NOTIFICATION NO EYES ON THE PHONE:

A food delivery app notification would not make you open that app but is craving enough for you to check your phone and reply to the texts your friends might have sent and later make you land up on some video on YouTube about some celebrities’ lifestyle.

Hence Mute or remove some app from your notification. This will reduce your wastage of time and will get you focused on the work you were doing.

  • FAR IS GOOD

What if you are in your room working and I ask you to get a bottle of sauce for me from the kitchen. Will you be spontaneous at it? NO! Right.Exactly, having your social media on your home screens makes it very easy for your mind to get you to it every now and then distracting your concentration.

Change the location of apps to somewhere not easily accessible to one finger touch.

  • SCREEN FREE HOBBY:

Having at least one screen free hobby and practicing it every day would lessen your use of being on your phone or social media. It may include reading, Writing, cooking, cycling, workout etc.

  • GRAY-SCALING.

As per color psychology we humans tend to attract and reciprocate at a higher level to colorful things, food etc. Therefore, in recent times, marketers have made color psychology the most important part of their brand marketing.Logos or symbols of various websites and social media are often seen as colorful.

Changing your phone setting to gray-scale mode will make it less attractive for your mind, automatically reducing your interest in using it for a very long time.

  • LESS IS BLISS:

Due to a lot of competition around the world there has been an increase even of the social media platforms which are exactly identical to each other with just different brand names.

Try not having 10 apps of the same genre providing the same bit of information or consuming the same intellect.

  • DAYS OF SOCIAL MEDIA DETOX:

As our body requires detoxification from junk food, pollution, synthetics similarly our mind also requires detoxification from unnecessary thoughts.

Try to have some hours of social media detoxification by staying away from it and indulging in other activities.

WE DON’T CLAIM SOCIAL MEDIA IS A BAD INFLUENCE BUT EXCESS OF EVERYTHING IS HARMFUL, EVEN YOUR FAVORITE FOOD!
